Dr. Vinay Patel was raised in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Staying in state after graduating high school, he attended the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. He graduated from UGA in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After graduating, he attended the Ross University School of Medicine and graduated with his Medical Doctor degree in 2007. 

After medical school, Dr. Patel completed an Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency at Louisiana State University – Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA.  Dr. Patel completed his Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship and served as the Chief Endocrine Fellow at Louisiana State University – Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA.

Dr. Patel’s interests include benign and malignant thyroid disorders, FNA biopsy of thyroid nodules, parathyroid/calcium disorders, Obesity management and Diabetes management. He also treats patients with pituitary disorders, adrenal disorders, and both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. His goal is to provide patients with individualized, compassionate, state-of the-art care. Dr. Patel is Board Certified in Internal Medicine (2011) and Endocrinology & Metabolism (2013), and Obesity (2016).

Dr. Patel lives in Gainesville with his wife and children. Dr. Patel comes from a family of physicians, and his two brothers practice as Oncologists with Florida Cancer Specialists, one in Gainesville and one in Ocala.  In his free time, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, and producing music in his spare time.
